Porn, Sex, Relationships, and Sex Education: Insights from Sexual Minority Men
Traditional sex and relationship education often fails to address the needs of sexual minority men (SMM), leading some to seek alternative sources such as pornography.
This talk explores the findings of a multi-method research program investigating how men who have sex with men engage with various sources of sex and relationship education. A content analysis of gay pornography examined portrayals of intimacy, while a survey of men who have sex with men in Australia assessed the perceived usefulness of different educational sources and their association with relationship outcomes.
The findings provide insights into how sex education for sexual minorities can be more inclusive and better tailored to their needs.
