Department of Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology facilities

Our facilities offer students modern and interactive learning experiences and support the groundbreaking work of our researchers.

Our innovative learning spaces encourage collaboration among students, allowing them to hone their practice-based skills in preparation for the workplace.

Our facilities, according to discipline area:

Our Microbiology facilities feature versatile, state-of-the-art laboratories suited to both teaching and research. Equipment includes sequencing capabilities (including Illumina and Nanopore technologies), sophisticated fermentation equipment and anaerobic facilities.

The result: A creative environment that enhances student learning, supports research breakthroughs and cultivates strong industry partnerships.

Our Anatomy facilities include five purpose-built laboratories that support the provision of Human Anatomy teaching to students across the University. Students can study Anatomy with donor bodies, plastinated specimens, skeletons, models, imaging, and augmented and virtual reality.

These facilities also support Anatomy education to professional and clinical groups including physiotherapists, podiatrists, sports and massage therapists.

Our Physiology and Pharmacology facilities feature teaching rooms designed to encourage collaborative learning and knowledge exchange.

Our students and researchers have access to facilities to assess cardiovascular, kidney and lung function, as well as behaviour and cognition, and how these parameters change during disease. Our hands-on practicals are designed with modern equipment to teach students core concepts.
