Student Support
La Trobe University takes student support very seriously. We aim to provide our students with all the assistance they may need to achieve their best, from careers and employment advice, counselling and accommodation services to day-to-day details such as accessing emails.
Academic Skills Assistance
Our language and academic skills (LAS) advisers can assist you with the transition to university life including writing, reading, note-taking, oral presentations, time management, exam preparation and language skills. Each faculty has its own adviser, and support is also available at all campuses. A specialist ESL unit at Bundoora campus works with students who have English as a second language. You may also want to look at our student learning resources.
Accommodation Services
The Division of Residential Services manages a wide variety of student accommodation designed to meet students’ needs, including on-campus residential colleges. It can also provide information about privately-run accommodation near our campuses.
Careers and Employment
Our Careers and employment advisers can help you determine and achieve your career goals by providing career advice and preparing you for the job market. The careers website also contains a number of resources, including a database of casual, part-time and full-time job vacancies.
Counselling
We all experience difficult and confusing times in our lives. La Trobe can provide help and support with any concerns or issues you may have, from dealing with exam stress to financial worries, depression and relationship difficulties.
Disability Support
Disability advisers offer assistance and resources to support students with a disability, mental health issue or on-going medical condition.
Equity and Access
The role of the Equity and Access Unit is to promote the full and equal participation of all students and staff at La Trobe University and to foster an environment free of discrimination and harassment.
