La Trobe alumni Sarah Stenquist

Sarah Stenquist knew what she was looking for in her tertiary education: an authentic campus experience, good reputation and a good premises for interaction and making friends. She found all these criteria at the La Trobe campus in Albury Wodonga.

Swedish student Sarah has successfully completed a Bachelor of Business (Honours) at the La Trobe’s Albury-Wodonga campus. She became certain that she chose the best course for her in the second year of her study, when she had more freedom to choose her subjects and found her niche. The lecturers and tutors’ approachable attitude only made things easier.

‘What definitely made my experience better was the advantage of studying in a smaller campus: smaller classes allowed lecturers to really get to know their students and have active class discussions. I firmly believe that if I had not the support and assistance that only lecturers at a small campus can offer, I would not have been able to progress to Honours and complete my degree in such a satisfactory manner.’

‘My favourite thing about Albury-Wodonga would probably be the size and location of the place. It's big enough to have everything, but it doesn't take you two hours to get to uni every day. It's also quite close to Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra if you want anything from a bigger city. There is also plenty to do around here with the wine region and mountains close by.’

Sarah is now working for the Wodonga Institute of TAFE, specialising in market research and she is grateful that she had the opportunity to develop her writing skills while working on her Honours thesis. For the near future, Sarah would like to spend more time in Australia before moving back to Sweden.
