Greek Studies Program

Welcome to the Greek Studies Program at La Trobe University. The Program is one of the most diverse and dynamic Programs of its kind, as might be expected, given Melbourne's claim to be the largest Greek-speaking polis outside of Greece/Cyprus.

Teaching

The Program offers units in Greek language, culture and history from antiquity to the present day, at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels. Its undergraduate program in Modern Greek is offered both on the Bundoora Campus for La Trobe students, and at Parkville for students of The University of Melbourne.

Conference 2008

The Modern Greek Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand is holding its 9th Biennial Conference on 11–13 December 2008 at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. Click HERE for more information.

Study overseas in 2008/2009

The Classical Association of Victoria, La Trobe University and the University of Melbourne are each offering a scholarship, in association with the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens (AAIA), to enable three Honours or Postgraduate students to travel to Greece in 2008/2009 to undertake academic research.
