Course description
This course is designed for professionals with no background in education seeking to advance their professional standing through studies in an education-related area. Specialist study areas include adult education, applied linguistics, nurse education, counselling and human services, intercultural communication and diversity, and pedagogy and curriculum.
Course structure
Students may choose either coursework or a combination of coursework and a minor thesis. They can satisfy first-year requirements with an approved Graduate Diploma or fourth year of tertiary study, and complete the final year by coursework or a combination of 60 credit points of coursework and a minor thesis. At least one research methodology subject is core for all Masters' programs.

The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.
English language requirements
IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe Melbourne; or
Approved equivalent.
Academic entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent provides entry to a two-year program consisting of 240 credit points of study. An approved four-year teaching qualification, Honours degree, or relevant Graduate Diploma from a recognised university or institution, or approved international equivalent, is accepted for one year of Advanced Standing (credit) and corresponding fee reduction of up to 120 credit points.
