Course description

This course prepares nurses for advanced practice as specialist urology and continence nurses. It meets the needs of the healthcare system by addressing a shortage of skilled nurses within this field.

Exit options are available at two levels: Graduate Certificate (three core subjects) and Postgraduate Diploma (one core subject and two electives). The former enables students to specialise in urology and continence nursing; the Postgraduate Diploma offers the option to specialise in a secondary area of interest.

Course structure

Applicants undertaking the Master of Nursing (Urology and Continence) must complete 120 credit points (out of 180) at level 5, comprising either a group of subjects as a major stream of study, a clinical project or a minor thesis.

There may be additional costs associated with police checks and/or possible immunisations, ranging from A$15-500.

Prerequisites

Registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse, and current practising certificate with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) or equivalent. Applicants must be employed in an area where they are directly responsible for patients with either urological and/or continence health issues.
