Course description

This course is designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of intensive care nursing through systematic analysis and reflection on the relationships between theory and practice. Clinical workshops are held at the Alfred Hospital.

Exit options are available at two levels: Graduate Certificate (three core subjects) and Postgraduate Diploma (one core subject and two electives). The former enables students to specialise in intensive care nursing; the Postgraduate Diploma offers the option to specialise in a secondary area of interest.

Course structure

Applicants undertaking the Master of Nursing (Intensive Care) must complete 120 credit points (out of 180) at level 5; that comprise of either a group of subjects as a major stream of study, a clinical project or minor thesis.

Registration as a Division 1 Nurse and current practising certificate with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or equivalent.
