Course description

This course addresses the many challenges brought about by rapid advances in computers, multimedia and telecommunication,from high-level specification of microelectronic systems to the realisation of integrated circuits. It aims to produce skilled engineers with practical experience to suit the microelectronics industry, featuring the opportunity for students to design their own integrated circuits.
This course may be offered under a different program in 2012 subject to CRICOS approval. International students need to check the course status before making an application.

Course structure

Core subjects include Embedded Processors, Advanced Digital Systems Design, Semiconductor Materials and Devices, Digital System Design, Engineering Practice, Electronic Design Automation-Tools and Technique, Integrated Circuit Design, Test and Verification, Design for Production, and Microelectronics Project. Students can choose from a range of electives in microelectronics or allied disciplines.

Prerequisites

Four-year Bachelor of Engineering in electronic, computer, or communication/telecommunications engineering, or four-year Bachelor of Science (Honours) in an appropriate field, or equivalent. Applicants with a three-year Bachelor of Science (in appropriate field) or Bachelor of Engineering in another field may also be considered, conditional upon enrolment in additional (preliminary) subjects.
