Course description

This course aims to give graduate physiotherapists an opportunity to develop advanced theoretical and applied skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and to develop skills in critical evaluation of the literature and research design.

Course structure

Students take three subjects: Professional Development for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists; Physiology; and Literature Searching and Evaluation. The first subject requires the completion of 104 hours' accredited continuing education courses run by external providers such as the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) or Sports Medicine Australia; mandatory courses include APA spinal 1 and 2 courses and the APA level 1 sports course. Students take remaining subjects online. The course is structured to allow physiotherapists to undertake further education in their own time with minimum disruption to their work.

Prerequisites

Bachelor of Physiotherapy, registration to practise in Australia, and at least one year's physiotherapy experience.

Additional information

This course forms 50 per cent of the requirements of the Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

Credit for courses at other organisations is considered on submission of relevant hours, content, learning goals, and completion of specified assessment tasks.

Online Orientation and Lectures commence early February.
