Course description

This course offers advanced professional development to academic staff, with a focus on enhanced teaching skills and an understanding of educational processes appropriate to teaching and learning in higher education. The course is convened jointly by the Faculty of Education and the La Trobe University Curriculum Teaching and Learning Centre.

Course structure

The course comprises four 15-credit-point subjects: Higher Learning by Design, Education, Teaching in Higher Eduction, Higher Education Curriculum Design, Applied Research in Higher Education.

Prerequisites

Bachelor degree or equivalent in any discipline, and completion of the three-day Effective Teaching at La Trobe workshop, or equivalent. Applicants must also have the support of the relevant Head of School and Associate Dean (Academic) or equivalent managers and the course administrator, Professor Tom Angelo.

Semester 1 and 2 (March and July)

Graduates may work as lecturers in universities and other tertiary education settings.
