Course description
This course is designed to meet academic and vocational requirements for a career in the finance industry. It provides a comprehensive understanding of financial investments, financial planning, corporate finance and portfolio management.
Students may elect to study a number of finance subjects offering more in-depth corporate finance, wealth management, financial risk management, security valuation, banking or international finance.
Course structure
Students take six compulsory subjects and two electives in first year and in second year, after which uthey may transfer into any range of Bachelor of Finance courses specialising in investments, wealth management, financial risk management, banking, international banking and finance, and corporate finance. In third year students take two compulsory subjects and six electives.

Extra requirements
Non-Year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form if they wish other information to be considered during the selection process. This may include information such as work experience or reasons for applying. Applicants may wish to provide other documentation in support of their application.
Prerequisites
VCE Units 3 & 4: study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or 20 in any other English and 20 in Mathematics (any).

Career opportunities
Graduates are likely to find roles in corporate finance (e.g. mergers and acquisitions), new issues, foreign exchange, securities portfolios, syndicated loans, and money marketing operations.
Typical roles include analyst (e.g. forecasting financial markets, pricing financial products and developing trading strategies), and dealer (in foreign exchange, bond, stock and money markets). Graduates might also work in sales positions, marketing financial products.
Professional recognition
The appropriate choice of subjects can lead to membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
