Course description
The Bachelor of Creative Arts provides a diverse range of subjects to shape and develop your creative abilities - allowing you to experiment and explore creative practices and preparing you for ongoing future transformations in creative writing, performance and media arts roles. You can focus on individual areas of writing, performance, and media arts - or take on a combination of subjects from these different areas. The degree combines practical work with critical thinking, research, and theoretical studies. In your production and performance work, you have access to media production facilities and to theatres and rehearsal spaces on campus.
Graduates have won roles in a wide range of exciting careers in the arts, from screen-writing to acting, filmmaking and theatre production.
Course structure
In first year, students complete the compulsory core subject Professional Writing: Words in Action, four subjects from a designated creative arts list, and three electives. Typical subjects might include Introduction to Film Analysis, Introduction to Screenwriting, or Process-Based Performance.

Approximately 12 contact hours per week if studying full-time.

Middle Band
Re-ranking is based on performance in English (any), Humanities (any), LOTE (any), Drama, Theatre Studies, Legal Studies and Psychology. Consideration is also given to Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) criteria.
Selection
ATAR 78.55 (2011)
Guaranteed Entry (Year 12 applicants only): applicants with an ATAR of 80 or more will receive a first-round offer. Those with lower ATARs will be considered through normal selection processes.
Non-Year 12 selection may be based on ATAR, Pi form, GPA, STAT Multiple Choice, and/or an essay.
Extra requirements
Non-Year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form if they wish other information to be considered during the selection process. This may include information such as work experience or reasons for applying. Applicants may wish to provide other documentation in support of their application. VCE Units 3 & 4: study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.

Career opportunities
The degree is relevant to many arts-related occupations in film, media and theatre. Employment possibilities include teaching, performance, publishing and editing, writing, arts criticism and scriptwriting.
