Course description

This course delivers students with a professionally-relevant program of study in contemporary tourism issues. It has a particular focus on the development of tourism, marketing of tourism destinations and analysis of tourism activity. It is designed to equip students with advanced skills in tourism analysis and marketing skills that meet the expectations for managing the growing challenges in a dynamic industry.

Course structure

Students complete eight subjects, including four core subjects and up to three specialised electives; they also undertake a 4 000-word (minimum) research project in a contemporary topic dealing with industry change.

Annual (or Total) Tuition Fee (AUD)

Indicative (2011): $16,820 (per 120 credit points).
The University reserves the right to vary fees on an annual basis. Fees will not normally rise above 7% per annum. Should the University decide to increase its fees, that increase will take effect on 1 January of the following year.

Prerequisites

Bachelor degree, Graduate Diploma or Postgraduate Diploma from a recognised Australian university with a minimum C grade average in the final year, and demonstrated work experience in a tourism-related industry.

Additional information

This course is Youth Allowance / ABSTUDY approved.

Honours is available to students who demonstrate exceptional merit, and requires an additional six months of study.

Some elective subjects may impose additional charges for travel and accommodation for field exercises. These costs
