Four subjects are assessed via a 5000-word essay (or equivalent); the remaining two are examined via a research essay of 12,000-15,000 words. Students who achieve a high B average for the first two subjects may apply to transfer to coursework and minor thesis.
· Three subjects and a minor thesis of 15,000-20,000 words.
It is also possible to complete the degree by research in one of two ways:
* By completion of a thesis of 50-60,000 words, which constitutes 100% of the examination for the degree.
* By coursework of 2 semester units and a research thesis of 40,000 words.
