Course description
This internationally recognised degree enables graduates to work in a wide variety of public health settings.
Exit options are available at Graduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma level.
Course structure
Part 1 comprises eight subjects, of which four are compulsory and others elective. Part 2 comprises eight subjects; participants stream into one of the public health specialisations. Students can complete Part 2 either by a research pathway that emphasises the development of skills in public health research, or by action learning, in which students develop the skills needed for working on a specific project in multidisciplinary streams. Both modes are supported by coursework.

IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from La Trobe Melbourne; or
Approved equivalent.
Academic entry requirements
An Australian Bachelor's degree, or approved international equivalent, in a health discipline. Students are expected to have at least two years of work experience in a health related field. A medical internship may count towards this work experience requirement. Applicants without a degree but who have significant experience are welcome to apply.
