Course description

This course is for graduates with a background in teaching and/or educational administration, and others with a professional interest in education. With flexible study and subject options, students can undertake professional development in their area of interest.

Specialist areas of study include administration, leadership and management; health education; organisational change; and student advocacy and well-being.

For people involved in teaching at any level, this is a teacher development course. It may either add a specialist qualification for teachers who are already registered or lead to further study opportunities in the broad field of education. It is not a professional-entry program.

Course structure

This program is available to be completed either by all coursework or a combination of coursework and a minor thesis or all by research. The final year of the coursework program comprises 120 credit points, which can be completed by coursework or a combination of 60 credit points of coursework and a minor thesis for students who have met the prerequisites. At least one research methodology subject is core for all Master's programs.

Selection

IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or

TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or

TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or

TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or

Approved equivalent.

Academic entry requirements

A three-year Australian Bachelor's degree or approved international equivalent. Applicants with an approved four-year teaching qualification, an Honours degree, or a relevant specialist Graduate Diploma from a recognised university or institution will be eligible for Advanced Standing (credit) into a 120 credit point (one year) program.

Semester starts

Semester 1 and 2 (February and July)

Additional information

Completion of a minor thesis in this program provides eligibility for a direct pathway into Doctoral studies (EdD and PhD). Candidates who complete the program by coursework may apply for the EdD but need to achieve a B Grade average in the coursework component to be eligible for the Doctoral Thesis.
