Course description
This course aims to give students specific skills in health administration, health policy and health services management, as well as an understanding of the issues involved in social, economic and political areas in developing nations. Its coverage includes knowledge and skills relevant to the planning and delivery of health services in Third World countries.
Course structure
Bachelor of Health Sciences studies include core first-year subjects, as part of an interdisciplinary common year, and electives in physiology and anatomy or public health. General electives can fulfil any remaining credit-point requirements. Bachelor of International Development studies include core subjects and discipline-specific electives.
Depending on timetable restrictions and subject prerequisites, students can choose their own balance of health sciences and international development subjects in any given year of their course. Fieldwork placement may be available in specified third-year public health subjects.
