Course description
This course is designed to meet academic and vocational requirements for a career in the finance industry. It provides a comprehensive understanding of financial investments, financial planning, corporate finance and portfolio management.
Students may elect to study a number of finance subjects offering more in-depth corporate finance, wealth management, financial risk management, security valuation, banking or international finance.
Course structure
Students take six compulsory subjects and two electives in first year and in second year, after which uthey may transfer into any range of Bachelor of Finance courses specialising in investments, wealth management, financial risk management, banking, international banking and finance, and corporate finance. In third year students take two compulsory subjects and six electives.

Prerequisites
VCE Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or 20 in any of other English and a study score of at least 20 in Mathematics.

Career opportunities
Graduates are equipped to pursue careers in the fields of corporate finance (for example, mergers and acquisitions), new issues, foreign exchange, securities portfolios, syndicated loans, and money marketing operations. In any of these areas, graduates may be employed as analysts (for example, dealing with forecasting financial markets, pricing financial products and developing trading strategies), as dealers (in foreign exchange, bond, stock and money markets), or in financial sales.
Professional recognition
An appropriate choice of subjects can lead to professional accreditation with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
