Course description
This course enables people working in the health services to develop advanced health management skills. It provides a comprehensive study package to ensure current and potential healthcare managers - in both clinical and business management roles - have the full range of competencies required of health system managers. Course content develops specific competencies in managing people and resources, and an understanding of the organisational, legal and ethical frameworks. The course may articulate into the Master of Health Administration (MHA), enabling studnets to proceed with further studies to obtain internationally recognised health management qualifications.
Course structure
Students can take subjects in any order, but are encouraged to leave their elective the second half of the program. The course is structurally integrated into the Master of Health Administration (MHA), enabling high-achieving students to proceed with further studies to obtain internationally recognised health management qualifications.

IELTS (Academic) - minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL Computer-Based Test - A minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing; or
TOEFL Paper-based Test - A minimum score of 575 with a score of 5 or more in the test of Written English; or
TOEFL Internet-based Test - A minimum score of 88 with no individual score less than 22; or
Completion of the English for Further Studies Advanced Stage 5B certificate at PG (postgraduate) level available from the La Trobe Melbourne; or
Approved equivalent.
Academic entry requirements
An Australian Bachelor's degree or approved international equivalent, and at least two years of work experience.
Extra requirements
Students are required to obtain a Federal Police check and Working With Children (WWC) check before undertaking a clinical professional placement. This course has a clinical component. Students who want to articulate to the Master of Health Administration are advised to seek entry into the diploma in Semester 1 only.
