Our 2012 year has commenced and we are looking forward to a busy and interesting series of events.
Our events started with a most rewarding trip to Canberra for, Renaissance: Raphael, Titian, Bellini, 15th and 16th Century Italian Painting. We were given a talk by the Senior Curator Christine Dixon after which we were able to tour the exhibition at our leisure. Afterward we met again for lunch in the Gallery Café. Most of our group spent extra days in Canberra as there were other exhibitions in, for instance, the Portrait Gallery and the Library. It was a worthwhile and very enjoyable trip – one which we make an annual event.
We are in the planning stages for other events for this year. The first will be a private tour of the exhibition at the State Library of Victoria, Love and Devotion: From Persia and Beyond, which we anticipate will be in late March. Once again the event will include a talk, this time with the co- curator Susan Scollay. Susan specialises in the art and culture of the Islamic world. She always gives a most informative as well as entertaining lecture. The date for this event has not yet been confirmed.
